Hi there, and thanks for checking out my personal website! This is something I've long wanted to build, and so it's fun to finally have it up and running. I would consider myself a technical person (I studied physics and mathematics in undergrad), but historically have lacked programming or coding experience, which makes building a website a little bit harder. Now, with the advent of agentic AI and various coding tools, an aspiring web-builder like me can finally bring something to life! And the best part is that in doing so (even with an agent assisting), I've started to learn some things about software myself. So consider this website an exercise of mine to stretch my technical horizons and grow into this era of agentic AI and democratized software-development skills. I hope you'll enjoy learning about the things I'm building, as well as getting a glimpse into some of the other things that spark my interest.
I'm a former college tennis player, an avid fiction reader, an outdoors (mountaineering, rock climbing, and snowboarding) junkie, and a native Tennessean living in Chattanooga with my wife, Lauren. I have some content on this website dedicated to each of these other facets of my life. Click around, follow the external links, and check out some of the things I'm working on other than my software and AI learnings.
For the last ~10 years, I've worked at Branch Technology. I'm currently the Director of our business unit focused on digitally-manufactured energy retrofits, and I've also cut my teeth on federally funded research and technology projects across many domains. My Personal & Vocational Values
My faith in the saving work of Jesus in my life informs all that I am and do, so I thought I'd spend just a few lines here too on my personal and vocational values. Would love to chat about any of these if you find them interesting.
- Work is inherently good and is how God most clearly empowers us to participate in his redemptive plan for the world. So I want to do excellent work with an ownership mentality.
- The skills I've been given to aid in my work are gifts that I must steward well, for their highest and best use. This means both deploying them well and continuing to develop them.
- Humans are made for community, and will flourish when our relationships are thriving. The family, church, and workplace (among other communities) are simultaneously causes and beneficiaries of this flourishing. Work is a place to jointly pursue something bigger than ourselves.
Hebrews 12:2 - "[So now, let us] Fix our eyes upon Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross and despised the shame, and was seated at the right hand of God."
